A cable joint connects two lengths of power cable end to end and restores the insulation, screening and mechanical protection that were built into the original cable. Gala supplies it as a heat-shrinkable kit, sized to the cable's core count, insulation and voltage class.
A transition joint (GTJ series) does the same job between two different cable constructions — typically an older paper-insulated lead-covered (PILC) run being extended in XLPE.
