Pole Protection Sleeve, with a bituminous liner, seals a wooden pole's ground-line section airtight and watertight, inhibiting both decay and termite attack.
Without it, ground moisture wicks up the pole by capillary action. The sleeve lowers the moisture entry point, keeping the upper pole below the moisture level decay needs. The ground-line section is both the pole's most mechanically stressed point and its most decay-prone, since decay rates in the top 20 cm of soil run roughly 20x higher than deeper down — wood needs a moisture content above 25% to decay, and dry wood does not.
Cracks that form at and above the ground line, from drying and weathering, let termites reach the pole's unprotected core; deeper in the ground, moisture stays more constant and cracking is limited. A pole that fails from this low-level decay can look sound on casual inspection.

FAQs
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Pole Protection Sleeve for Wooden Poles used for?
It is used for:
- Decay and termite protection at the ground-line section of wooden poles
- Relocated or reused poles, and new poles set in pavement
- Poles with a disturbed ground line from underground cable installation or grade change
- Poles stored for six months or more before installation
How do I choose the right size?
Measure the outside diameter of the pole and choose the code whose "Pole Dia. Range (mm)" covers it. For example, GPPS 250 fits a pole of 76–210 mm. Where two ranges overlap, either code fits.
Where can I download the datasheet?
From the "Download datasheet" button at the top of this page, or here:
Can I get a quote, a sample or a size that is not listed?
Send your cable details, quantity and application with the "Request a Quote or Sample" form at the foot of this page. For a size or variant that is not in the chart, describe what you need there, or use Technical support at the top of the page, and the technical team will confirm what can be supplied.
