Polytek Composite Insulator
Polytek composite insulators pair a high-mechanical-strength fibreglass-reinforced rod and metal end fittings with a cross-linked polyolefin cladding material, replacing traditional glass or porcelain insulators for outdoor installations.
- IEC 61109
- CEA LWIWG-01(91)
- ANSI C29.11-1989
Polytek composite insulators pair a fibreglass-reinforced rod, at least twice the maximum working load's mechanical strength, with cross-linked polyolefin or silicone rubber cladding and hot-dip galvanized carbon steel end fittings (stainless steel on request), replacing porcelain or glass for outdoor installation.
Unibody insulators are injection-moulded directly to the rod and sealed to the end fittings with a silicone bead, for standard distribution dead-end/suspension and station/post use. Modular insulators assemble individually moulded weather sheds onto the rod, sealed with a high-dielectric-strength silicone gel, to meet a specific length or electrical requirement.
Dead-end/suspension fittings are attached by a monitored crimping process and proof-tested to verify the crimp; ball, socket and eye fittings are also available. Creepage distances follow IEC 60815; the design conforms to IEC 61109.
